GREAT PTSA ARTICLE (01/31/12)
Don't miss this week's PTSA email News. They had a nice write-up giving "Congratulations to Our Two HHS 1000 point Players!" They are correct in what a rare accomplishment and great honor it is to have - not ONE - but TWO team members in one year make the "1000 Point Club." Congratulations, Nikki and Ryan. But also congratulations to the teams, coaches, and fans that supported them.
At Friday night's game, prior to the boys victory over South Cobb, three-year captain and team high scorer, Ryan Blumenthal, received a standing ovation from the crowd when Coach Churchwell honored him and gave him the ball he shot at the January 21, 2012 Marriott Invitational Tournament at Norcross High School against Dr. Phillips High School (Orlando) and reached the 1000 point career scoring milestone. Ryan is now one of three Hoya boy players in our school's history to ever reach that coveted mark. The first, Andrew Wilson, went on to be a star at Florida State University and is now an Assistant Coach at the College of Charleston. The second, Cameron Fitch, went on to play at Berry College and scored over 2000 points in his career there. Congratulations Ryan!
HOYAS TAKE TWO (01/28/12)
Congratulations to the Var Boys and Var Girls who both won their matches against S. Cobb.
The Harrison Varsity Boy's team beat S. Cobb 89-81 to remain in the lead of the Region 4-AAAAA. Ryan Blumenthal led both teams in scoring with 23 points, followed by Jeremy Pressley with 19 points and Subby Adetujoye with 12 poings and 10 rebounds. The Harrison Boys are ranked 8th in the state.
Harrison's Lady Hoyas beat the Lady Eagles 45-36! Go Lady Hoyas!!

LADY HOYAS HAVE A WIN (01/22/12)
The Harrison Hoyas Girls Basketball team won Saturday's non-conference game against the Wheeler Wildcats by a score of 62-50. Go Hoyas!!
HARRISON BOYS BEAT NATIONALLY RANKED SCHOOL (01/22/12)
Harrison Boys basketball team beat the nationally ranked Dr. Phillips High School team from Orlando FL by a score of 81-75 in the Marriott Invitational Tournament in Norcross. Ryan Blumenthal led all scorers on both teams with 28 points of which he made 6 three point shots from 8 attempts and in the third quarter, reached the 1000 point high school career milestone.

Friday night's game had everyone seeing pink. And wearing it! From pink laces to pink socks, pink t-shirts and pants and a raincoat. Both players and fans wore pink as part of the Passionately Pink for the Cure® annual fundraiser. See some more pink pictures in the Photo Gallery.
Both JV and Varsity Girls played hard, but not enough to have wins against the Lady Indians.
The Varsity boys beat the Indians winning 61-57. Justin Morgan #10 and Subby Adetujoye #11 both had 16 points. Andre Powell had 10 points, Ryan Blumenthal 8, Marshall Guilmette 6, and Jeremy Presley 5.
After the game, Nikki Hegstetter was honored by Coach Lenahan for being one of five Harrison Basketball players to achieve 1000 points and [soon to be] 1000 rebounds.
Also honored after the game was Jordan McCullers who guided the Lady Hoyas volleyball team to their first and only state title in 2006. She went on to play four years at Georgia Tech before graduating. Touted as the No. 1 player in the state as a high school senior. Ms. McCullers jersey No. 1 was retired.
