Tide Signee Nikki Hegstetter Named to Atlanta Tipoff Club Preseason Watch List
Posted Dec. 16, 2011 - Alabama Crimson Tide Website
ATLANTA - Alabama women's basketball signee Nikki Hegstetter was one of 30 girls named to the Atlanta Tipoff Club Preseason Watch List.
The 6-2 senior from Harrison High School led the Hoyas in almost every category her junior year with 13.5 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 3.2 steals, 3.1 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. She was selected to the Atlanta Journal Constitution Metro All-Area Girls Team and the All-Regional First Team. Hegstetter was named the Tipoff Club's Varsity Player of the Month (Jan. 09 and Feb. 09). She also excels in the classroom and is part of the National Honor Society.
The players were chosen by the Atlanta Tipoff Club's board of selectors, comprised of leading basketball coaches and administrators from around the region, who based their criteria on player performances last season and expectations for the 2011-12 campaign. The Atlanta Tipoff Club's board of selectors will track the progress of all metro Atlanta players throughout this season when determining the season-ending award winners including the All-Metro Team, Metro Player of the Year and Miss Georgia Basketball. All honorees will be recognized at the season-ending Naismith Awards banquet presented by AT&T in March.
